Millie's Birthday

She's 5! She brought cupcakes to school, we had Casa Ole for dinner and cake at the LWML meeting. What a great day for her!

Millie's first recital

Millie took baby ballet this year. She didn't like it, but we stuck it out. She didn't like the clothes. She didn't like having her hair up. For recital, she didn't like the make up. We did 3 nights in a row - rehearsal then 2 nights of recital. Hell. But we made it. Spent some quality time together. She's a hoot.

Sewing

I love to sew. I love to make things. I have all sorts of projects in all sorts of progresses. I finished a quilt to give to my sister in law, who is going through cancer treatment. I finished baby quilts. I learned how to make zippered pouches. I'm making mason jar placemats and table runners for us. I have several quilts ready to be quilted. I finished a bag. My quilt guild has a book club challenge for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I bought the book, so I can read it, but I've already drawn out a few ideas. The show theme is color your world, so I'm thinking about rainbow hot air balloons. We'll see!

MIdweek

Somehow I volunteered to help with Midweek some this summer. I'm happy that they are having it this week. Both girls have had a great time. The first week was Jesus our Shepherd. I did the craft - Woolina the lamb. They did an activity called "shearing the sheep" where someone puts on trash bags to protect their clothes, then shaving cream is sprayed all over their face. Other kids try to spray the shaving cream off. Both of my girls did it. They had a blast!

Sewing for a cause

One of our sister Lutheran churches hosted a service event where you made a pillowcase for yourself and one for a cancer patient. I had a great time. They even had the pattern! Thrivent Financial paid for the fabric and dinner.
