Books

I've been reading a lot because I can hold a book while I'm nursing. And we go to the library a lot together.
Well written, but weird. Hard sci-fi. Hard to describe to others (like Scott).  I liked it and I'll probably read more by him.

I love this author and I love her books. I think she's starting a new world. The last book was in a different world than her Arcane books, which I enjoy a lot. This book was really good. The last one, Copper Beach - was not all that great. The villains were too over-the-top. The scenario was not plausible. This book was good. I enjoyed it a lot. Victorian setting, funny dialogue.

I've both read and listened to this one. Excellent!

Audiobook - I've read the first book in this series. I have the second but haven't finished it. I love this author and her Kate Daniels series. The audiobooks are read by the same narrator, who is outstanding. BUT - it's confusing to hear those voices in a different series.

Good -  I didn't buy the relationship between the h/h, but it was a good way to continue the series.  Not sure which couple is next, but this book moved the storyline forward in good ways.

This is my first book by this author. I'm still working my way through it.

This one was funny. I'll probably read more by him.

This is another one that I listened to. I love the series; love the author.  The storyline and the characters are great, but I guess the author's prose is repetitive and annoying - especially if you're listening to it instead of reading.  The same girl reads the whole series and she stinks.Good characters and it moved the storyline of the series forward, but annoying to listen to. What the hell color is silver-gold? It's used over and over again to describe someone's hair and I just don't get it.

This is another gem of a series. They get better as the series goes on too. I don't know if they stand alone, per se, but I read them out of order and I was fine. I also listened to some of them. The girl narrator was annoying. This is supposed to be California (?)and everyone has an annoying Yankee accent.

Summer schedule

This summer has been nice so far. Another reason never to coach a sport - the high school coaches oversee something called Summer Recreation, where elementary school kids get to go in the mornings and play games and swim and do on field trips. It's nice for me. Gracie goes every morning and loves it. In the afternoons, sometimes there's library things or movies or something else. She's been to a birthday party. Thursday afternoons she goes to maw-maw's. Just in time. Thursdays are when she gets into the most trouble. Most other days we all get along ok, but Thursdays she really can't behave. Some of it is because of the baby, but some of it is sheer perversity. She doesn't listen. She doesn't do what we ask/tell her to do. It's frustrating for all of us and we hate to have every interaction be negative, but there's a limit and she likes to push it with us.
Later this month we're going to a convention for my ladies' group, then hopefully we'll go traveling around some before we come home. July is her birthday party and August is school starting back up. Time is passing so slowly, but again, so quickly!

Amelia

She's a pretty good baby. Poor thing has the worst gas - I've been told it's because of what I eat. She thinks she's hungry all the time. Today she has been screaming off and on because of her belly. Nursing has been going well. That's all I do, but it's going well. Most days I just hang out in a bra. She's also the baby that has to be held all the time. 9 out of 10 times when you put her down, her little eyes pop back open and she starts fussing. She doesn't like to be left alone in her bassinet. I don't think that's a learned behavior because she was like that in the hospital. She likes skin to skin contact.
Gracie loves playing with her and fussing over her. She's a big help (or she always tries to help) changing Amelia's diaper and giving her a bath. She gets a kick out of Amelia's projectile poop.
Scott's been home and that's been good. I thought 6 weeks would be too much, but I like having him home to do the dirty stuff. We're both spending a lot of time on the computer.
We had her baptized last weekend. I didn't take any pictures, but someone did and I'll try to get them sometime.
Dude!

Pretty babies

Playing together

Pretty

More pretty
I've been reading a lot and I've discovered Hulu. It's a little frustrating to only see a few episodes, but since we don't have cable anyhow, a few is better than none. My mother got me into Duck Dynasty, which is hilarious. I've found Alphas and I've seen the latest season so far of Eureka. Lots of down (in the chair) time this summer.

Field day

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted! I'm on the computer a lot, but it's normally when I'm nursing Amelia, so typing is pretty much a no-go.
Gracie had field day the week school let out and I got to volunteer. I got a shirt and everything!
Bag for goodies

Cheetah!

Dunking booth - it took her 3 tries to dunk Coach Gil. Not really a major league pitcher here!

Sack Race
They had games and face painting and a bouncy in the gym, a dunking booth and some games in the cafeteria. I was glad for the opportunity to be there. During a normal year, I probably wouldn't have taken the time off.
We spent more time together on the last day of school by going to the high school's Safe Graduation for a few hours. It was fun. We got to eat and visit and watch some volleyball. I usually leave Grace with my mom and just go and help and hang out, but not so much this year.
