Beth Moore - Self-Control 1
Self-control keeps us anchored.
Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.
Greek egkrateia - continence, temperance, self-control
akrasia - excess, self-indulgence
"that's enough for now"
1 Cor 6:12 "Everything is permissible for me" but not everything is beneficial; "Everything is permissible for me" but I will not be mastered by anything.
Cease to be enslaved by indulgence.
Greek - exousia - authority, right and power
Self-control is an issue of mastery, authority and boundaries.
God demanded walls in his dwelling places - He dwells in us today - self-control is our wall of protection; self-control is the ability to make choices and decide to remain within the boundaries of victory.
