New arrival

Amelia Diane was born yesterday after the easiest labor and delivery ever. She's tiny and perfect and a sleeper and a screamer. We're hanging out at the hospital with her royal sleepiness waiting for her to wake up hungry. Lots of visitors yesterday. She was 7 lbs, 2 oz and 19.5 inches long.

Brand new
We checked in at 7:00. I got an epidural at about 10. It was really strong, or I'm  especially susceptible to it because my heart rate dropped and there was some concern. They cut it down, which was good. I was worried about being so numb. But it was fine. The nurse coached me through pushing and that lasted maybe 5 times and there she was. And mysteries of all mysteries - I wasn't in any pain afterward. I remember after Grace, being in agony afterward. Maybe because she was so big? This was a totally different experience. They kept her in the room with me to clean her up and everything. That was good. I got to cut the umbilical cord because Scott couldn't work himself up to it. We're having trouble with breastfeeding. She didn't sleep last night. Scott did - he was a snoreasaurus and we laughed at him, but she and I were up most of the night. Not surprising, considering how active she's always been at night. We're trying to get her to stay awake now, but she's not having it.
