2 more weeks!

I just have to get through this week, then she can come whenever she wants. The baby bag is packed. My bag is just about packed. I won a $50 Target gift card @ work today so we went to get some new pajamas for the hospital. And I found an Aggie shirt. Happy Mother's Day to me!
I have a dr appt tomorrow and he'll check my dilation and such.

Some finds

I love fruit and veggie motifs. Melons especially. I found these at a garage sale. It's a melon  stand or plate and 2 flower cups.

Dinnerware for Gracie.

shoes and an outfit - too big, but cute

This great red coat for me. It's all ruffled.

Great diaper bag. More feminine than the one we used for Gracie, but great!

Good deals @ Kohl's. Several napkins for $5 or so. Lots of cute fabric to use for - - - aprons? Coasters?  Now I just have to get into my sewing room instead of just dreaming about it. Maybe tonight.

Nursery progress

2 weeks left. I have some wonderful friends who volunteered to help me get the nursery together. That's what we did yesterday. I washed and dried all of the clothes and bedding, and they came to help sort, put up and put things in places. I can now go into labor and the baby will have a place to lay her puddin' head. She doesn't have a name - but she has a pretty place to sleep. We even went on a late-night Target run to get some additional stuff. My friend pointed out the oddness of my willingness to purchase a $17 photo album for the baby but balk @ buying a $30 changing table pad. I didn't end up with either, but I am going back out into the shops again this morning after church to finish up. We do need a changing table pad and a trash can and a few other things. Otherwise we're hunky dory - ha! The room is hunky dory. I'm pretty miserable. 2 more weeks!

Crafty update

In progress: an antique pattern a friend from work found. After a few restarts and some help, it's coming right along. It's for my new nephew. Hopefully it will be done by her shower on May 6th.
Here is a close up of the stitches - I played with the light, so it's not perfect. The yarn is a white and also a blue/green variegated. I'm really pleased with how it's coming out.

This is what I made for our little girl. It turned out like it was supposed to turn out - into a star. I need to wash and block it now, but I haven't started washing her stuff yet, so it's in limbo for now.

A closer look. It was a free pattern on a flyer @ one of the craft stores. I used stash yarn, so it's not perfect, but it's good enough for home made ;)

Busy weekend

Spring soccer season has started. We had soccer practice 3 times last week. Not that the girls don't need it, but geez! Gracie is doing better with the ball. She actually kicked it some during the game. She needs to follow it up and be more aggressive, but that may come. We went to a fund-raiser before the game, then to a cousin's party afterward. Busy! It was very nice to see everyone, though. Gracie spent the night with mawmaw and I went to spend some alone time in Beaumont. Bought a few things for the baby, looked at breast pumps and really couldn't make a decision. Got some cute owl stickers for decorations and walked around B&N for awhile. Nice night. I'm going to rest up today (Sunday) though. I need to drink more water and put my feet up. I'm already having the Braxton-Hicks contractions, which isn't bad - my body needs to practice those, but with the baby already being so active, it wears a momma out. So resting today!

Easter

I've been such a lazy blogger. No excuses; just lazy about it. Easter was a nice weekend. Gracie got to go to a few egg hunts, which were fun, though she didn't win any prizes. We went to Shangri-La in Orange with my mother and saw some beautiful flowers. Sunday we had a family dinner, which was lovely and of course, I didn't take any pictures.
Getting ready to hunt eggs.

Easter morning we went to Sunrise service.

Gracie update

Gracie and my mother at a church event.
She's had some mystery maladies lately. Thursday she was sent home from school sick. The school nurse was so freaked out that the met Scott in the parking lot with her - no backpack or signing out or anything. She was complaining about weakness in her legs and her arms hurt and she started running a fever. Of course the dr was out that day, so Scott took her to the dr Friday and she ended up doing a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. It's been worrying and stressful, but she seems fine, except for the fever. My parents came over Thursday to check her out and I was trying to get her to tell us about her day, what she was feeling when. We were hanging on her every word, trying to figure out what was going on. Then she busts out with the fact that she isn't sleeping well because of daylight savings time. She lost our focus after that. She's so dramatic - it's hard to tell what's real for her and what's in her head. Arms and legs could be growing pains. But the fever - so she has antibiotics and hopefully that will resolve most of it.
Her latest saying is  "Jesus is crying" when she thinks we're lying about something. It cracks me up, so we all say it to each other. Now Jesus cries in proximity to the person - Jesus is crying over there by daddy, etc. Hilarious and ridiculous. Her attitude is still so troublesome. She was in the shower screeching at Scott that he was crazy because he wouldn't build an outfit around a stretchy purple headband she found while cleaning her room. I miss my sweet little munchkin! Even she is saying that she's going through a phase and that it will end when she's 6. I HOPE SO!!!

That new car smell

We are rough on cars. When I was pregnant with Gracie, Scott messed up the body of the only car we had with a back seat, so we had to go and buy something. That was our first experience and we got a decent deal on a Chevy Equinox. Which we subsequently drove into the ground while upside down on the note. Not good. So lately I've been stressing about what we're going to do when it finally bites the dust. Then our other, freebie car went into the shop and we were down to just the Equinox. Friday I got a flyer in the mail saying that a local dealership wanted my Equinox and was willing to pay me big buck for it and while I'm at it, give me a good deal on a new car. I knew that was complete BS because I know what bad shape that car was in, but it's the end of the month and I had no other plans, so I took my car up there just to see what they could do for me. My goal was to get out from under the Equinox note and to come back with something more reliable with a lower monthly payment. And I brought papers to grade while they did that.
It was a process - the 2 cars she wanted to put me in were too much with the note, so we ended up with this cute LITTLE thing. The people there were great - I got exactly what I wanted at the price I wanted and they had to work some things to get it for me. I just graded papers while they worked their magic. It's not red. And we lost a lot of trunk space, but it had good gas mileage, a CD player that works and only 150 miles. But, considering what I went in there with and our credit and the fact that there's no money anywhere to throw at it, it will do us for the next 6 years or so. I am looking forward to the gas mileage, especially with gas prices (OMG!) spiking.
Gracie was with my mother, so we called to tell her. She never liked the Equinox, so when we told her that we didn't have it any more, she muttered under her breath "Finally." We just about died! Where did that come from? She loves the little Sonata, so maybe she'll like this little Sonic thing too.
And there's a bluetooth thing where I can answer my phone from my steering wheel! I was really amazed when the salesman set that up for me. We don't have a bluetooth device, but my phone will do it and that was pretty cool. Hands free - much safer, and we can all talk to Mawmaw without Gracie messing with my phone.
